Veteran Employee Outreach
Commitment to Veterans in cannabis.
The 5th Meridian Group is a Veteran owned and operated company founded by two military aviators who served in the Missouri and Tennessee Army and Air National Guard. Through their military and public safety careers, the founders have seen first hand the standards upheld by Veterans in the workplace. They now wish to bring this leadership, integrity, and devotion to duty to the cannabis industry throughout the mid-south.
Tax revenue from the Missouri medical marijuana program is intended to benefit Missouri Veterans, and the 5th Meridian Group wishes to continue this industry commitment through an established Veteran outreach program. The company, with the assistance of our Veteran outreach coordinator, will actively seek out qualified Veterans that are interested in employment in cannabis.
Joseph Schicker
Joseph Schicker of St Louis, has joined the 5th Meridian Group’s effort in recruiting qualified Missouri Veterans for employment in protecting and securely transporting Missouri medical cannabis. Schicker
is serving as a volunteer to attract eligible Veterans to our team and assist applicants throughout all phases of 5th Meridian’s hiring process. Schicker, a Missouri native, served in the U.S. Army with the U.S. Special Forces Group for over 15 years and served an additional 15 years with the Missouri Army National Guard. Schicker served on multiple deployments to both Iraq and Afghanistan.
Joe was Medically Retired in January of 2019. He started Wounded Warrior Woodworkers, making various projects to be auctioned off for Veteran based organizations. He also brings Veterans, in conjunction with the Jefferson Barracks VA, to his shop and teaches them woodworking as a form of physical and emotional therapy. Currently, he also works on improving returning Veteran’s job placement through various projects and contacts. The work accomplished with the 5th Meridian Group will be another meaningful step toward this goal. Together, Joe and the 5th Meridian Group will actively seek out and recruit qualified US military Veterans into full or part-time careers in protecting Missouri cannabis and the patients the industry serves.
